I majored in Digital Art in college, with a concentration in live video performance. I chose to take that towards the direction of VJing, or live video mixing, usually in concert with a DJ or live artist. Most of the visuals shown here were created with a custom Max/MSP and Jitter patch, which became known as "The Will To Live." The "letmetellyouastory" visuals were performed and mixed using MsPinky's vinyl control system, and the [debut] work adds that to the "Will To Live" patch.
Some examples of work I've done are posted below in Flash format, in reverse chronologic order. If you can't view Flash for some reason, please contact me for Quicktime clips. You can see examples of my motion graphic work for Winter Park and So Gnar TV on the Little Stereo Design website.
In Denver, I worked with a very talented electronic artist, [debut]. we played several shows in the Denver area, and are planning more collaborations for his '08 tour dates. You can check out more pictures of our performances at the [debut] site.
In the winter of 2005 I was invited to Miami to perform visuals at Tomas Ceddia's "Aquabooty" party. I ended up playing for about six hours, until they told me that the DJs I was doing visuals for had long gone. The featured DJs that night were from New York, so they requested an old "New York hip-hop" kind of feel. I ended up using a lot of clips from Breakin', Wildstyle, and The Warriors.
My senior thesis at Stetson University was based on the idea of storytelling through a live DJ and VJ set. Some of the visuals were appropriated, and some were custom filmed. The soundtrack was all original work (that used some samples).
While at Stetson I was a part of the MPG, which was a group based on the idea of mobile laptop performance. I did both sound and visuals for the group at different points. The videos presented here are from a performance where we were car-based, in both actuality and subject material. We also did performances that involved political statements, and while at Provflux 2005 in Boston we modified a tricycle-bike to include a projector and sound system. It was the forerunner of the much more evolved version you see on the MPG site today.
Random videos/visuals I've done.
